Inspired by treehouses, nature, love and luxury, Treedom Villas and Vardos, launches in the Wilderness

Situated amongst nature, on the unspoilt coast of the Garden Route, South Africa, in the little town called Wilderness, Treedom Villas and Vardos will take your breath away. Fuelled by a passion and love for the environment and slow living – Treedom Villas and Vardos was created to bring people closer together and closer to nature, whilst slowing down and relaxing in luxury.

Treedom offers a sense of happiness and relaxation that can only be found in a place untouched by the stress of city life. It is the perfect blend of luxury and boho-chic living – a dream destination made real! “ We’re not a resort – we’re a sanctuary, where you arrive a stranger and leave a friend .” says co-owner and founder, Debbie Nortje.

Treedom has one exclusive luxury Villa that sleeps four, with future plans to build more units in the style of Gypsy Wagons (Vardos). If you can imagine a home being put down in the middle of a forest, you can imagine staying at the Treedom Villa. It is an open, double-volume space with a large expanse of windows inviting in the unspoilt natural surroundings.
After a day brimming with activities such as mountain biking, boating, canoeing or horseback riding, you get to collapse onto your four poster queen bed and enjoy a blissful sleep on the 100% cotton linen. Upstairs in the loft are two comfy beds which can be turned into a king if required.

The lounge area is made for relaxation with its comfy couch, fire place, luxury throws and a big screen TV with DSTV, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Enjoy a good book on your private patio as you gently sway on the modern floating daybed and soak up the scenery.
Listen to the birds while you cook in the fully fitted kitchen with its Moroccan tiling and state-of-the-art cookware before you end your day dining alfresco at your hand-crafted dining table. Or why not enjoy a braai downstairs in your outdoor forest lounge! No stone was left unturned in the creation of the Villa as owners, Debbie and Marc wanted the space to embody relaxation and luxury, making sure guests feel right at home and treated at the same time.
The idea of Treedom was born seven years ago by Debbie Nortje – trained chef, African tour guide and VIP Events Director. Her experience with people, travel and culture has fueled this project, allowing it to blossom into the wonder it is today. “ I was inspired by Pete Nelson from Treehouse Masters, his passion for living up in the trees and his crazy wonderful personality spoke loudly to me. Since then the dream has been to live in a forest and be elevated amongst the trees. Being in the events industry for so many years and creating so many luxury themed spaces I knew that when we built our own “treehouse” it would be full of texture, patterns, lux and shine. We wanted guests to go ooooo and aaahhh when exploring the Villa. Working with Kate Shepherd from Something Desired on the décor and interiors has been magical, it’s turned out even better than we imagined .” adds Debbie.

It is her heart being put on show in the way she does best – an immersive, engaging and enchanting experience, designed to do one thing – spread joy and happiness. Debbie’s husband, Marc is her right hand man and together they have built something remarkable, and genuinely memorable. With his outgoing personality, kind and friendly mannerisms, any requests are met with a smile and a willingness to go above and beyond. “Whether you’re Nicholas Cage or my neighbour, you can be assured that we are all equal and will always be treated as such.” Treedom was made a reality by Pike’s Construction based in Wilderness, “ When Treedom – the dream – was initially conveyed to us, we immediately realised that we had to do a special construction in order to keep the forest as pristine as possible and the magic alive.
Instead of roads, we created dreamy footpaths, but this meant that everything had to be carried up and down the steep Treedom pathways – even the very heavy cement blocks! Was it worth it? If you have to ask, it simply means that you have not yet experienced the magical freedom called Treedom .” says Owners, Fanie and Fika Pike.

The self catering Villa sleeps four guests in one queen bed and two single beds and starts from R2600 per night. Guests will be treated to a welcome pack including home-baked goods as well as honey, milk, yoghurt and butter from Treedom’s neighbour’s farm and eggs from Treedom’s own hens. Guests can also pick their own produce from Treedom’s veggie garden to use in their own meals. As a trained chef, Debbie will however be more than happy to cook for their guests if requested!
Treedom is situated close to the Wilderness town, petrol station, shop and of course – a gorgeous lake minutes away which guests can reach with their personal Jeep 4×4 buggy.
